A Tale of Two Sisters - 2003 [warning: contains spoilers]
This is a little known, South Korean thriller/chiller that I have no idea how it got into my queue. I'm really glad it did, as this was an excellent movie. Creepy, atmospheric, well acted (or at least as far as I could tell. Whenever you watch a subtitled movie, there's always a little lost in the translation, pun intended, and it's hard to tell if the acting is as spot-on as you'd know if it was in your native language. That's a lot harded to say than the idea is to grasp. I'm probably belaboring the obvious)
Here's why I liked this movie, I wasn't expecting the surprise movie. In point in fact, I was expecting some kind of a ghost story, so was not expecting the mind-f. But it is a mind-f, and a cool one at that, because you don't see it coming.
[Spoiler Warning Again - I'm not kidding, stop reading now if you want to be surprised like me]
This movie surprised me like the Sixth Sense did originally. I did not see that half of the cast were only in her mind. But going back and watching it a second time, knowing the ending, I really liked it. I'm serious. While I was watching the first time, I was confused and mildly bored. Then I see the ending. Ohhh, they're all dead. Huh. So it's in her mind? How about that. Now, watching it again, I can see that there were all the requisite clues. Like I said, just like Sixth Sense.
