Another Joe Sarno Double Feature Night (Thank you SWV!)

Love Merchant - 1965

Wow! I bet this movie was shocking in 1965. A rich guy hires a scumbag to provide him with girls that he can have for a "donation". I mean, this is Indecent Proposal (1993), but in black and white, and with LOTS more nudity. What's not to like?

You can tell these movies are made on the cheap, though. For instance, there's a song playing at a club everyone is at. They go back to the guy's house, turn on the radio, HEY! It’s the same song. What a coincidence! The final line of this movie pretty much sums up the flick: "Yeah know, she's right. We're all VERY sick." What does that say about me, liking it so much. Yeah, guilty as charged

There are many extras on this disc. 4 Sarno trailers, 2 old nudie loops (you know, the kind you had to pay a nickel to see on 42nd St back in the day), and the requisite magazine covers slideshow to radio movie advertisements.

The Layout - 1969

After the first 30 minutes of this movie, I realized something. I have no freakin' idea what's happening here. Who are these women, what is their relationship, what the heck is going on? Oh, and why was a movie shot in 1969 still in black and white?

Okay, after the whole thing is over, I think the subtitle of this movie should be "Adventures of an old-fashioned Vibrator". Is that really what this movie was supposed to be about? Turning women on to the joys of solo, battery powered love? And how that's the first step to lesbianism? Or am I missing something? Lots of naked women, though. And it’s never dull.

Four beers out of five. Did I mention how much I love Something Weird Video?
