Zombie Night - 2003
This is what independent cinema is all about. Let me tell you one of the ways in which I judge whether a movie is well acted or not. It’s pretty simple, really. Do you have any feelings for the characters? And it doesn't have to be a positive feeling either. For instance, in this movie, there is a bad guy character named Derek! I have watched this movie three times now (including with the commentary running) and even though I know how everything turns out, I still scream at the screen for the main characters to JUST KILL DEREK! It would save SO many lives, and make things so much easier.
So let this be a warning to you all. Should the great Zombie apocalypse happen, and you get in my way, I'm capping your ass. None of this "we all have to fight together" stuff for me. I'm gonna use this as an opportunity to do a little planet beautification myself. So don't be an asshole around me. Fair warning.
Anywho, I really like this movie. It’s got everything you could ask for; blood & Gore, bare breasts, zombies munching out all over the place, everything. And its put together real well. It looks good, sounds good, and is a joy to watch.
The new disc I bought from their website (the version I rented had no extras, stay away from that!) has outtakes, making of featurette, photo gallery (which I never look at), interviews with cast and crew, and a good commentary. There's so much that the deleted scenes are on a separate (second) disc. Hey David. For future reference, skip the gallery and put the deleted scenes on the disc and save yourself some money.
Four out of five beers. Fun for the whole family (provided you don't have any kids)
