120 Days of Sodom - 1975 aka Salom

It's taken me a long time to lay my hands on this one. It's been on my wish list almost forever, as folks say that it's really out there. Well, it's got no english, but the subtitles are hard coded in, so its okay. And I gotta admit, this one does not disappoint. It is very hard to watch at points. It has parts that are flat out disgusting. Even I cant stomach scat-eating & calling it a delicacy. Man, these are some pretty messed up folks.

After watching it, I kept thinking that this must have meant something, especially the ending, but damned if I know what it is. Maybe someone out there who's smarter than I am can explain what this movie was trying to say. Or maybe it was just a F'ed up movie, made to mess with your head. Who knows?

Fraulein Leather - 1974

This one too I've been wanting to see for a long time. I think it was one of the first movies I put into my DeepDiscountDVD wish list. Funny thing is, I have no idea why. As it turns out, it's Lesbian leather bondage softcore sexploitation. So it's all good. Fun and pointless. No pretense here. Just lots of eye candy and simple minded entertainment. What more could you ask for?

Disc 2 and 3 of
The Lascivious World of A. C. Stevens & Ed D. Wood, Jr.
The Lascivious World of A. C. Stevens & Ed D. Wood, Jr
Drop Out Wife - 1972

Sexploitation right on the edge of becoming softcore porn. The Orgy scene is particularly good. IMDB Pro and Amazon list Rene Bond in the credits, but I didn't see her, and she's not in the closing credits, so don't get your hopes up. Still, this was completely watchable, especially if you love sexploitation as much as I do.

Lady Godiva Rides - 1968

More of the same, but with more plot and less "pickles and beaver", probably due to the year that it was made. But still, there's plenty of "ticket sellers", IE boobage.

This one's dialogue is only one step above Orgy of the Dead. And several of the ladies are regulars in all of A.C. Steven's work, all the way back to OOTD.

SS Girls - 1977 aka Private House of the SS Italian

Moving on to my next most favorite subgenre, it's Nazisploitation! And it's directed by that master of exploitation, Bruno Mattei. This one is a pretty standard example of the sub genre, and a very tired storyline. Women are trained to be uber-prostitutes to spy on their johns for the Third Reich. I'd say about half of all Nazisploitation movies have this plot. Still, I liked it, if only for the natural boobage, and the over-the-top ending.

Eighteen Carat Virgin - 1972

Dull and the girls are ugly. Who wants to their sexploitation like that? Sure glad I didn't buy this puppy. Avoid!

Das Komabrutale Duell - 1999 Germany

Ahhh, Super 8 German gore, in the vein of the immortal (or is it immoral) Violent Sh*t. And you know you're in trouble when you see Toaster wipes. (If that doesn't mean anything to you, you obviously we not in the original video revolution with an Amiga and a Video Toaster in the early 90's!).

Why do all these german goreflicks have blood that looks like mud? It's all orange and too runny. Weird. Still, these are almost a sub genre in and of themselves. And if you like gore to the point of silly, then this is a movie you will enjoy. If you don't like all manner of violence to the body that people somehow survive, skip this one.

Other extras (yes, I was surprised too) include digital effects comparison, which was short and pointless. Didn't show how, just showed that it was digitally augmented. Well, hell, I knew that.
There's also a behind the scenes, which reveals that it's exactly what we thought it was, a movie made by a bunch of kids. There's also some outtakes that are short and not funny, and some deleted scenes that won't be missed.

Ghost Of Dragstrip Hollow/The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini (Midnite Movies Double Feature)
Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow - 1959

This one is a lot like Daddy-O or The Rebel Set (a pair of hipster movies treated by MST3K). The parrot is really over the top. Did they think that was funny in 1959? He does get the best lines, but that's not saying much.

And then, when you finally can't stand any more, they suddenly turn into the Scubby gang. And isn't that the costume from She-Creature? (another movie treated by MST3K!). I sat there wondering why Joel and the bots didn't riff this one, til it ended, and I realized it was WAY too short. Even a short or two at the beginning wouldn't pad this puppy out to an hour and a half.

The Ghost In The Invisible Bikini - 1966

Look at the cast in this flick! Tommy Kirk, Boris Karloff , Basil Rathbone, Nancy Sinatra. And there's The Eye Creature! And the Ghost girl is Lisa from The Slime People (yet another MST3K flick). And there's FFF as a gorilla suit. George as made "famous" as Ro-Man in Robot Monster.

This one is fun if you like those dorky Beach Party movies, which this was supposed to be. But they couldn't get either Frankie Avalon or Annette Funicello. So it ended up being the last.

Alien vs Predator: Requiem - 2007

At first, all I could think was, "It's not satisfying, but I can't say why". Maybe it's because it all seems so derivative, right down to the soundtrack. Maybe it's because the Aliens don't look quite right. Maybe it's because the Alien and the Predator look too much alike in the dark. And there's no acid blood about 3/4's of the time.

Commentary by directors Colin and Greg Strause, and Executive Producer John Davis. The Strause brothers have their own effects shop, which they use to keep this movie cheaper than it might have been. A 52 day shoot is another sign that this movie WANTS to be a big studio feature, but it has the heart of a cheap rip-off. Seriously, this movie is only slightly better than Alien vs Hunter, by Asylum. And here we learn why the Alien and the Predator look so alike, it's a different alien, a crossbreed called a Predalien. Maybe they should have made that a little clearer.

Yeah, and keep making excuses for no acid blood. Cheap bastards. I'd say they have thoroughly killed this franchise at this point. Sad.
