Darkhunters – 2004

This UK flick bears the name Johannes Roberts’ Darkhunters, like we know who the hell Johannes Roberts is. He’s done a total of 4 movies, of which only two have been released in the US. So what gives this guy the right to put his name in the Title?

There are no subtitles, and no commentary. In fact, the only extra on this disc are trailers. But then, I got a late start tonight, so that works out well. Glad I only rented this puppy, however.

Okay, I got a nitpick already. If this is taking place in the UK, how come this guy has a gun. My understanding is the there is no right to bear arms in the UK, and that private ownership of firearms is illegal. Hell, the cops don’t even carry guns. So how can this smuck have a pistol?

Some pretty decent gore here. That was a pleasant surprise. But what is with all these cats?

Oh, well, okay. You gotta go 45 minutes into this flick before any explanation as to what the “F” is going on.

There is a novel concept here. I like the whole, “ghosts are clerical errors of death, and whichever bounty hunter kills them first gets the soul” concept. Can’t say that I’ve seen that before.

And finally, now we know that angels and souls travel to heaven via a wormhole. Now that I think about it, I do seem to remember a Star Trek movie where they found god. So I guess they went thru that wormhole too.

Two beers out of five. (Could have had 3 if there had been even a touch of nudity)
