Legacy of Terror
What the…? I thought at first that our first victim had been killed by a chicken! The freeze frame is not very clear. Ahhh, now I see. Its Kolchak vs the Aztec Mummy. [bet not too many of you get THAT reference!]. Oh boy, and if it isn’t Erik Estrada, in a role beneath even him. Hey, wait a minute, this is perfect. I bet everyone wants to see this! Erik WANTS to commit suicide. So do most of us, Erik. No, no, don’t let Kolchak stop you, please! <sigh> First time I think Carl may have missed the boat there.
The Knightly Murders
Man, these episodes are getting weaker and weaker. Its two days later, and I cannot for the life of me remember why the armor was animated. Sad. It’s like they’re hurrying to get to the end of the season. Hans Conried! My hero from Fractured Flickers! So its Monty Python and the Holy Grail vs Kolchak, is it? Man, is this episode sad. It would truly suck if it wasn’t for Hans saving the day.
The Youth Killer
Wow, Cathy Lee Crosby. Bet she’d rather forget this little episode of her past. She gets to play Helen of Troy, kept eternally young by making “perfect” sacrifices to Hecate. Ehhhh, what’s with her eyes? Oh, I see [hehe, pun intended], it’s supposed to show she’s aging. Time for another victim. Yeah, okay. Man, the affects here are cheap even by 70’s TV show standards. And the big finish, a Cathy Lee Crosby sculpture! I wonder where that is. I bet it would bring a pretty penny on Ebay.
The Sentry
Well, by this time, it’s pretty obvious why they didn’t renew the series. What, had they spent all their money on earlier episodes? The monster (some kind of lizard guy with eggs that look like rocks) looks like something out of Dr. Who from the same time period. But at least it has the excuse of being a serious low-budget show. And this episode goes from just boring to silly. Not even the presence of Tom Bosley (Mr. Cunningham from Happy Daze and Father Dowling) can save this hurter. And if I see these same coverage shots ONE MORE TIME I’ll go mad. Oh, wait, I can’t. Its over.
Seriously, I don’t think an episode went by that we didn’t see the following cover shots.
- Helicopter view of lakeside highway.
- Elevated railroad moving right to left through bad part of Chicago
- Thru the window shot of I.N.S.
So, there you go. All the episodes of Kolchak: The Night Stalker. Good bye, Darren, and thanx for the memories!
