Mind Freak - Season 1 - 2005

Holy Chripes! I've seen a lot of illusionists in my 48 years (yeah, I'm an old gezer. My birthday is in a couple of weekends, and I'll be 49!. Plz pick presents from my Amazon Wishlist. :-> ). Anywho, this two disc set is evidently the first season of Criss Angel's TV show on A&E, Mind Freak.

First off, let me pull back the curtain and reveal yet another no-so fascinating aspect of my personality. I do NOT watch TV. None, zero, goose-egg. I loathe commercials so much, that the only thing I will endure them for is Russ Martin. I have a Sirius radio to listen to Howard Stern in the morning, and DVDs at night, so, NO COMMERCIALS.

The offshoot of this, however, is that if anything is cool on TV, I may not know about it. My wife watches American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and Seventh Heaven (I'd rather beat on my thumb with a hammer than watch that show!!!), and my kids only watch Discovery Channel and cartoons. So if anything cool comes out on TV, I gotta hope that someone at work or on one of the new bad movie news groups I belong to mentions it when it comes out on DVD. Thats how it is I've seen Season one of Lost and now Mind Freak.

For those of you who live in a cave deeper than mine, Criss Angel is this illusionist in Las Vegas who does this absolutely mind blowing magic tricks. Stepping thru a plateglass window, throwing a card thru the bus window, swallowing pins and thread and the pins come out his navel threaded on the string! But each episode centers around a large stunt. They are truly awesome. I love it when people who have been standing there watching the whole thing freak out and call him a witch! Thats how good he is.

There are a couple of commentaries on each disc, where Criss talks about the episode. They are okay, but not great, as he never really talks "out of character". No other features, and no subtitles.

Four beers out of five (could have been five, if they weren't edited/censored for tv)
