Dark Fields - 2003

Yet another movie where I hate EVERY SINGLE character. Plz god, let them all die slowly.

Fifteen minutes in, and all I can think is "Diediediediediediedie". And the really sad part? The house is awesome. Pity a better movie didn't find it.

No gore, no boobies, no subtitles, no commentary, no point.

The only extra is a blooper real stuck inside the credits. best 5 minutes of the whole film. You know you suck when the credits are the favorite part.

Teaserama - 1955

And we start off with Bettie Page! And it's easy for me to say why there is such a mystique about her. She smiles in such a way as to say "this is fun and there's nothing wrong with it". That's why she's so popular today.

So, it's called Teaserama because they never strip?

Ahhh, comics. This stuff seems so lame today, yet in the commentary, David Freidman seems to think they are hysterical. Hmmmm, different strokes. And Tempest Storm does an Anti-Strip, starting off with less clothes and slowing getting dressed.

Betty bringing out the signs introducing the dancers is the best thing. And here again, I differ with David Friedman, who thinks the women are great, and Betty is weak. Huh. And I'm proud of the fact that I can recognize a tranny before the "shocking" reveal.

The best thing about this disc is the commentary by Mike Varney and David Friedman. I thought we weren't going to get to hear any more from Mike and Dave, so was THRILLED to discover that they talk about the history of these types of movies. Awesome and fun stuff. Just go directly to there. The movie itself can safely be watched without the original soundtrack. And where else are you going to learn what a Merkin is? LOL.

Other extra is a scene from Striperama, the infamous Bubble bath scene with Betty Page from the SWV introl

Varietease - 1954

More burlesque goodness with Betty Page. Actually, this one has even LESS stripping, and more singing and dancing. And many of the same folks, including the tranny.

Another commentary by Mike Varney and David Friendman. Pretty much the same stuff as the previous one. I did love the story where Dan Sonny told Dave "I'd forgotten how terrible these were".

Only other extra is another scene from Striperama, where Betty Page SPEAKS!

Forbidden Knowledge 2006 Conference in UK - 2006

More Philip Gardner (Gnosis, Solomon's Temple, see previous entries). This represents portions of presentations and interviews about all manor of "alternative knowledge". Much of this is dull bullshit, but ya gotta dig to find the diamonds. There are a couple of interesting bits.

The Wicker Man - 2006

First off, let me say straight off that I dislike Nic Cage. I don't think he can act. And this movie does NOTHING to dispel that impression.

I notice that, unlike the original, Nic is the sympathetic and the islanders are betrayed as nuts. In the original, I actually disliked the cop, and liked the cultists. He was such an obnoxious christian. Here, Cage is betrayed as reasonable, if flawed, while the cultists are clearly presented as nutty.

I can sum up this remake in one, simple word: DULL. If you can stay awake here, you are doing too much caffeine.

Commentary by director Neil LaBute, actors Lee Lee Sobickski and Kate Beaha, editor Joel Plotch and the custume designer. It is actually even duller than the movie. Not enough detail to be technically interesting.

Probably no revelation that I suggest that you skip this turkey.
