Dr Who, Season Two
Disc 3
Rise of the Cybermen
Well, we start right off with the death of the Tardis. Then the revelation that the Time Lords are extinct (I can't WAIT for the episodes where THAT'S explored). Then we have a new genesis of the Cybermen, by being in a parallel earth. Clever. I like the new Cybermen, and they actually make sense in their world. I like.

Age of Steel
Conclusion of Rise of the Cybermen. Very nice. And the departure of a regular, so that's interesting.

The Idiot's Lantern
Wow, an alien that is never shown. That's clever. And look at all the old TV's. Very cool.

In-Vision commentary of Age of Steel. Not as good as previous. If I had more time, I'd listen to the audio commentaries, but I want to watch the next episodes more. Sorry.

Dr Who, Season Two
Disc Four
The Impossible Planet
The doctor lands on a planet orbiting (impossibly) a black hole. There is a power source within the planet that is keeping it in a safe orbit. There are earth people here who are drilling down to see what the power source is, and at the bottom is...

The Satan Pit
Am I the only one who is wondering what the significance of "4.7K 2.1" is? What is that? I bet it means something, but I will admit I don't get it. Very clever plot, but ended EXACTLY as I predicted.

Love and Monsters
Hey, it's Shirley Henderson (Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter movies). And I love the fact that the guy's into ELO. Gotta love an episode that features "Mr Blue Sky". I am surprised that they could afford the release of that, especially for the DVDs. Bet that cost a fortune.

Disc 5
Fear Her
Well, that was novel. A kid who draws things and they become real. And connecting that with an abusive father that is dead is really spooky. Very nice.

Army of Ghosts
Ahhhh, Torchwood. Isn't this a separate show now on the BBC? Funny, they're lookin' kind of evil here. How does the BBC have a show about an evil place? Hey, it's looping back to the Cybermen story. I LOVE how this new series does that.

Dalek too! Holy shit!

Dr Who Season Two, Disc 5, con't.
Doomsday
Daleks + Cybermen = Doomsday. Happily, they don't seem to be able to see sensor to sensor. Probably due to the huge egos each have.

This is the best Dr Who Episode EVER! It may be the best TV ever. Certainly if you've ever liked anything about Dr Who, this is a topper. Absolutely awesome. I am totally blow away.

In-Vision commentary of Doomsday with David Tennant and Billie Piper. Even the actors, seeing it, are tearing up. Powerful stuff.

Disc 6
Making of Documentaries - over half a dozen, each focusing on an episode or aspect of the show. And they too are subtitled. Thank you, BBC! These are great.

This may be the best box set I own. I heartily recommend that everyone that's ever liked Dr Who go out and buy this, to show support to the fantastic folks who have resurrected Dr Who and made it the wonderful show it is. Okay, I'll get off my soapbox.

jumping from one TV series to another
Adventures of Brisco County Jr - 1993
Disc 1
Bruce Campbell's own TV show.

Pilot
Billy Drago and John Astin! Gotta like that. And his dad's R. Lee Ermey (Gunny)!

It's a western, scifi, buddy picture. And it's got Bruce Campbell and his wry sense of humor. How could this have not been a huge hit? TV makes me mad sometimes.

This is funny and intelligent, although a little slow in parts. And I love the little nods to songs or modern things they are putting in.

Socrates' Sister
Some nice bits, but a lot more simple plot than the pilot.

There's a commentary on the Pilot, featuring the exec. producer and writer (Carlton Cuse) and Bruce himself. Very nice, with some tech details and some reminiscing, plus behind the scenes about creating a TV series. I love the philosophy "Just under 'Over the top'". I especially like the talk about how the scripts were created. this isn't talked about that often.

There are few spoilers, so you might want to wait until you've seen the whole thing before watching. However, since there are 27 episodes, that's a long wait, and I'll probably forget before I get to the episode. This is 8 discs! A lot of Bruce in my future.

Adventures of Brisco County Jr, Disc 1, con't.
The Orb Scholar
Richard Picardo, the holographic doctor from Star Trek: Voyager.

Disc 2
No Man's Land
Denise Crosby (Natasha Yar from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season One). One of the things about TV shows. You got that guest star of the week action going on.

Brisco in Jalisco
The return of the hottie Dixie. Gotta be happy about that. Sure with this was a real movie, so we could have had some tittie action.

Thursday, April 5, 2007
Adventures of Brisco County Jr
Disc 2, con't
Riverboat
Bruce Campbell in The Sting 3. hehe

Pirates
Andrew Divoff, the Djinn from the Wishmaster movies. Here, he's a pirate captain, stuck on the desert sands.

Disc 3
Senior Spirit
Jason Marsden, who does a LOT of voice work now, but was Johnny in Robot Jox. And R Lee Ermey returns! And there's another orb! This just gets better and better.

Brisco For The Defense
The sheriff is the second in command n the RoboCop movies!

Friday, April 6, 2007
Disc 3
Showdown
Brisco becomes a sheriff in his hometown. LOL! "Annie, get your gun!"

Deep In The Heart of Dixie
David Warner (Quest of the Delta Knights!)

Disc 4
Crystal Hawks
Holy crap! Crystal Hawks is Sheena Easton. I didn't know she ever acted. Looking at IMDB, it would appear that she sings, does voice work, and this one TV appearance. Very nice.

Steel Horses
Motorcycles before the turn of the century! More John Astin greatness. LOL "Gentlemen, start your engines".

Mail Order Brides
kinda weak, actually. Weakest episode so far.

to be continued

Didn't watch Dr Who as much as some did, but I did catch that Cybermen/Daleak episode that you talk about. I might have to start actually checking it out, maybe SciFi can put it back on rather than SU2 (which I liked, but isn't it about 5 years old?).
Can't praise the first 2 seasons (mini & 1 & 2) of Battlestar G enough. Some of the best tv I've seen in a long time. Ron Moore knows how to put a tv show together, move them to the top of your queue and check them out.
Briscoe County Jr, great show. Can't praise it high enough. I don't know how it wasn't a hit either, only thing I can guess it was on at a bad time (Friday Nights in my area) and I think it was actually a bit too smart for the average viewer. You know the ones that can tell you every person that one character on Friends dated the entire series, but claim having to "pay attention" to something like BCJr is too hard. I so wish this had been a hit and Bruce Campbell had become a household name rather than just a god to geeks.
