Girls & Gadgets Double Feature from SWV
Electronic Lover - 1966

A man has his servant/slave run around with a camera shaped like a gun that broadcasts TV back to him in his lab decades before wireless. Man, is this guy a nut! In fact, for the first half, I couldn't even figure out what the heck this was about. I then realized it wasn't really about anything, it was just an excuse for poor sexploitation. Unfortunately, the sex isn't even sexy. It's pretty sad. And then the ending is totally off the wall. Worth a single watch just to see how weird some movies back in the 60's could be.

The Spy Who Came - 1969

Man, can these people NOT act! Good god, could this be a little slower. And someone tell them to STOP LOOKING AT THE CAMERA! Even harder to watch than Electronic Lover.

Usual bunch of trailers and shorts. Most interesting is The Philosophy of Computing - an ancient computer documentary. Sadly, this is the most interesting thing on this disk. This may be poorest SWV disc in recent memory.

The Weird Al Show - 1999

Disc 1 - First 4 episodes. Tons of Cameo's, including Billy Mumy! Also, live music at the end. Which would be cool if any of the acts were anything you'd ever heard of. Except for Bare Naked Ladies, the first group. I've heard of them. The rest? Not so much.

All episodes have commentaries by Al and a couple of others. The commentaries are often as funny as the show. There are often flashes of brilliance here, showing how great this show could have been, if CBS hadn't hobbled it with these stupid morality lessons.

Disc 2 - Four more great episodes. Four more great commentaries.

The Weird Al Show - 1999
Disc 3 - Final 5 episodes, including guest appearances by Dick Clark and Dick van Patton. This could have been SOOO cool. It still was pretty fun.

The Ultimate Weird Al Collection - 2003

This DVD has most of the classic Weird Al music videos, with subtitles!!! So now you can get all the words. Including my personal favorite "Dare to be Stupid". Does NOT have "White and Nerdy", but does have "This Here Anikan Guy" and "Amish Paradise". Enjoy!

Schramm - 1993

From the director who gave us Nekromantik 1 & 2. OMFG! This is a seriously sick movie, only the most depraved need apply. Only watch if you are immune to being offended. I can't even describe the worst of it, this blog would be deleted. Let's just say there is a far too graphic manhood mutilation.

Subtitled, and two commentaries. The first commentary has the director and producer. And it's duller than dishwater. Commentary @2 has the main 2 actors. Better, but still pretty dull. These really add little, and those who like the movie won't like the commentaries.

Other extras include a Making of featurette, which was fair. Mein Papi - a home video tribute to his late father. Mutter Boxing - an amateur boxing video - I have no idea why it's in there. Captain Berlin - stupidest student file EVER. The kid's videos were better. I cannot believe that ANYONE would have the balls to put this POS on a DVD. And finally Die Mien Sein - a music video of a tone deaf German. Yippee.

Master of Horror (season 2): Dario Argento - Pelts - 2006

Meat Loaf and John Saxon. Wow, Meat Loaf can actually act! Who'd have thought. Argento's love of bright colors and gore are VERY evident. This episode was actually excellent. This is probably best second or third best episode, behind Cigarette Burns.

Commentary with screenplay writer Mat Venne reveals that the sountrack is by one of the members of Goblin. This is an excellent commentary, very technical with lots of inside info and a frank discussion of screenplay writing.

There are fewer extras this season than last. Fleshing It Out: Making of Pelts. All Sewn Up - making an effects sequence, which was interesting.

The Brink - 2006

Engineering students locate the plans of a machine Thomas Edison invented to talk to the dead. Being geeks (High I, low W) they decide to build it in a haunted house. None of the main characters are overly beautiful. They're pretty common looking, which is good, since they're geeks. Heather Chase is easy on the eyes. Wish she'd get naked. She doesn't.

A clever premise ruined by pedantic, predictable plot points. And I haven't heard "Join Us" since Evil Dead. I wonder if they got permission to use that sound clip?

Don't Go In The Woods....Alone - 1982

Seven minutes in, and I already hate both male characters. The scenery IS beautiful. All the audio doesn't appear to have been recorded at the time. Overall, its a pretty standard 80's slasher fare. Music soundtrack is REALLY 80's.

No subs, but 2 commentaries. Commentary #1 has the director (James Bryan - last thing he did was Lady Streetfighter) only - historical telling of how movie was put together and done.

Commentary #2 is the director and Mary Gail Artz and 2 super fans. Much more fun, as the fans ask all the right questions. Done with only a $12K budget.

The only other extra is a making of/where are they now that is very nice.

Dark Remains - 2005

It's very sad when your male lead is better looking than the female lead. And once again, no nudity. I'm gonna have to get some better sexploitation soon. Nothing scary here. Nothing but bang & jump scares. And they're trying WAY too hard.

Commentary with director & cinematographer, which is a husband and wife team (Brian & Laurence Avenet-Bradley). Plenty of technical stuff, very good technically commentary. Other extras include a three part Behind the Scenes. There's deleted scenes, and a short documentary about the Legend of Big Red - Ghost of Floyd County Jail.

Disaster - The Movie - 2005

Claymation parody of Armageddon. Very dirty and very funny. There's no subs, but a commentary by the director and a pair of animators. Very enjoyable.
