Zombie Honeymoon – 2004

This is an interesting movie. The director states in his commentary that he was trying for a zombie movie that women could enjoy as well. There’s a lot of “romance” in this flick, as well as an exploration of the affects on a couple when one is turning into a zombie. Yes, we’ve seen it before, but its well done, and I think at it succeeds on a lot of levels. Certainly, the actors sell being in love, and it hurting them that their relationship is forever ruined. I bought it. The romance rings true, and that makes the ending kinda sad. And good acting is pretty rate in zombie flicks.

The gore is plentiful, if not quite as “meaty” as many modern zombie flicks. Lots of blood, but none of the ripping, tearing, pulling and eating guts as is common in low budget flicks of this type.

There are subtitles (yeah!) and two commentaries. One by the two main actors (which was interesting) and one by the Writer/Director. Both were very good, interesting and informative, never allowing the pace to get boring.

This is actually a superior flick, and really a high water mark for the independent movie zombie genre.

Four beers out of five. (Try and talk the wife into watching it with you!)
