Before I get to the movies for Sunday, I have a general comment. I'm curious if anyone is actually reading this or not. If you are, could you plz drop a comment in a entry to let me know. Thanx.

Gallery of Horror (1966)

A classic piece of antique cinema. You saw movies like this as a kid on Saturday afternoon on your television (at least you did if you were alive back in the 60's and 70's). I hope you saw this movie that way, cause this DVD is the crap. Its a collection of short stories, connected by some meaningless narration by the always great John Carradine. Some are shorter than others. The first one is very short, because it appears that a reel is missing. We go from everyone being introduced, to all of a sudden the hero has figured out who the bad guy is. How can that be, nothing's happened? Stupidest thing ever. At least have a disclaimer at the beginning like other "poor source material" DVDs have, saying, "Hey, its the best we can do".

Its a pity, cause its got both John Carradine and Lon Chaney Jr in it. Its classic schlock from the 60's. This is the kind of program I really love. The stuff of my childhood. So how come they couldn't spend just a little effort to make it complete?

There's nothing else on this disc, besides the movie. So don't spend more than $1.99 for it. Or better yet, just rent it like I did. That way, you don't feel quite as cheated.

One beer out of five.

Love and a .45 (1994)

You will recall that sometimes I forget why I buy a movie. This started out as one of those. As I took this disc off the top of the stack, opened it up and put it in the player, I'm thinking to myself, "A Renee Zellweger movie? Why the hell did I buy this?" But as I started watching, it was quickly revealed. Jeffery Combs! My favorite actor! And he's a great bad guy. This is a pretty weird little flick. Sort of a proto-Natural Born Killers. Lots of over-the-top acting of drugged out criminals. Unfortunately, there is no nudity for Ms Zellweger. Now that would have added a beer or two.

The disc has subtitles, and a commentary. Unfortunately, the commentary is kinda boring. Also, this makes the second movie this weekend where someone dies from the set. The special affects guy died during the making of this movie. Weird.

Two beers out of five. (Jeffery raises it one, so go figure what it would be if you don't love Mr Combs)

It lives on your PC, and is completely stand alone in that regard. It has the ability to upload a copy of your collection to an online facility, as both a backup, and as a way for others to see your collection.

I have been using it since I started collecting DVDs, and have always been extremely satisfied with it. I bought it originally because it had the ability to "check out" movies to people, and track them, and let me know when people had my movies longer than a preset period of time. Sort of a library function. I had grown tired of loosing DVDs by loaning them out, and forgetting who and when I had done so.

Let me know if you have any other questions
