Gothika - 2003
This movie was nothing like I thought it would be, and is as much a murder mystery as it is a horror movie. I like a movie that makes someone pretty like Halle Berry truly dirty and scraggly pretty much 3/4 of the movie. The shower scene is a big disappointment, however.
I was kinda hoping that this was going to be a mind F' movie, but it really wasn't. It was a pretty straightforward "whodunit" with a supernatural twist.
Commentary was absolutely unlistenable. I couldn't make it. First off, the director is French or some such, so he's got an accent. Next, he's only slightly more animated than a Romero zombie. Finally, whoever is with him (don't remember now) didn't add any life to the party. Dull, dull, dull. But there were subtitles, and the photography was very nice and atmospheric.
Three out of five beers (could have been a four with some nudity)
