Mon-Tues Dec 26-27

Combining entries here to try and catch up. I really want this to be a daily thing, writing the previous night's movies up the following day.

Monday, it was the first half of a Something Weird Double Feature: Carnival of Blood. IMDB's summary is: "A psychopathic killer uses the carousel ride at a carnival to pick his victims, whom he then murders and dismembers" Thats kinda funny, 'cause I don't remember any dismemberment, unless you count one decapitation. This movie hurt, it was slow, talky, you didn't like any of the people (I kept expecting the Gypsy Fortune Teller to call someone a "Filthy Pig!", but she never did. How many get that obscure reference?)

The print sucked pretty much too, which is unusual for Something Weird. Its like the only remaining copy was 16mm print, that had been shown about a million times. No subs, natch. No commentary. Extras were a couple of shorts that I am completely confused as to why there were included, as they didn't seem to match the movie at all.

One out of five beers, and flat and warm at that.

Tuesday was the other half, the Curse of the Headless Horseman. If anything, this one is even worse. The print is about in the same shape, but the plot is so convoluted, and changed about 3 quarters of the way thru. Plus, the sound was so faint (which is weird, since most of it appeared to be post synced) that half the time I couldn't tell what they were saying. And the final coup-de-grace is that it was short day for night, and so everything is so dark you can't tell what anyone is doing half the time. So lets see, I can't hear it, I can't see it, and what I can hear and see is boring. WOW! What a fun night.

One out of five beers, and someone put their cigarette out in it.
